big thing

By mid -2016 we are clearly witnessing a new era of change. Outside of Silicon Valley, companies and startups around the world are faced with major issues such as water scarcity and cancer. With regular discoveries, the concept of the “next big thing” becomes obsolete. Here are nine new innovations that could change the world soon:

1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence that can learn and act independently of its human master is like a science fiction novel. However, this could be our new reality in the next 3-5 years. Robots gain skills, perform tasks, upload information to the cloud, and allow other AI systems to learn quickly. Eliminates the need to program different types of AI separately.

 They understand ideas, multiply steps and build discoveries faster than ever before. The best part is that the “future” is here. Researchers have developed an innovative artificial intelligence that could reproduce a Nobel Prize-winning 2001 quantum physics experiment in less than an hour.

2. Automatic driving

How much time do you spend commuting each week? Once you hit Google, Apple, or Tesla, you can spend that time sleeping, reading, or shopping. Self-driving cars already exist and everyone is trying to dominate the market.

 General Motors acquired Cruise Automation for more than $ 1 billion, and ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft are investing heavily. Garage hackers like George Hotz also changed the industry. Expect good things.

3. Reusable and rocket

Until now, space exploration has been very expensive and ineffective. A launch costs $ 100 million to $ 300 million, but the rocket only flies once before burning during its free-fall into the Earth’s atmosphere. 

Companies like SpaceX, Blue Origin, and the United Launch Alliance are changing the game by developing precisely maneuverable rockets that land safely. 3D printing of rocket components and LNG alternatives to rocket fuel also lowers costs. Rockets will soon be available again and space travel will be more convenient.

4. Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality

Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are not new concepts, but they will change the world in five years. AR enhances the reality and virtual reality helps you forget about it. Together they open the door to a world beyond the Internet of Reality, the Internet of Things, or the Internet of Things.

 The Internet of new sectors and experiences is emerging. With the recent investment in Magic Leap, the VR/AR industry is expected to reach $ 150 billion by 2020. As VR and AR technologies evolve and more content becomes available to users, the human experience with the technology will change forever.

5. Rapid adaptation of renewable energies

Next year, the SolarCity Giga Factory in Buffalo, New York will build up to 10,000 solar panels per day. This will transform the alternative energy industry and make solar energy more accessible. Renewable energies are attracting companies and governments from around the world to try to solve the global energy crisis.

 For example, China has already proposed a $ 50 trillion global energy network by 2050. The innovation, in this case, is a system for the fast and efficient production of renewable energy technologies on a global scale.

6. Great desalination:

Purification is not a new concept, but the high cost makes it difficult to adapt. The Israeli company Sorek is able to build the world's largest desalination plant, producing 627,000 cubic meters of water per day. Within a year, 50% of Israel's water will come from purification. Solek showed that large-scale desalination is possible. Innovation could also help tackle the California drought and a potentially global water crisis.

7. Very fast internet

The era of telephone modems is over and the Internet has become an important part of our daily lives. But innovation continues and Google's Lun Balloon is just one example.


Google Fiber offers internet speeds of up to 1 Gbit / s (100 times faster than regular Wi-Fi) and is now available in the US. Li-Fi uses visible light connections to transfer data at speeds up to 224 Gbit / s (200 times faster than Google Fiber). 

It's a proven concept. Wi-Fi is also turned off and consumes 1 / 10,000 of energy The problem of high-speed Internet connection is a thing of the past, and the "Internet of Things" connects consumer electronics, wearable sensors, and other technologies around the world.

8. Online DNA analysis

The phrase "has an application for it" has been replaced with the phrase "to have an explanation for your DNA". Next year, the genetics of Helix, Illumina, and Veritas will be able to analyze genes online, understand susceptibility to certain diseases, and explain why some people need more candy than others. 

It is part of an effort to democratize genetic data and provide individuals with information about their health. Consumer genetics will be an innovative business model that will allow people to pay a small amount to learn more about themselves.

9. Technology of the immune system

We find a cure for cancer and leave it to chemotherapy. This is no exaggeration, as companies like Selections, Juno Therapeutics, and Novartis save lives through gene editing and immunotherapy.

 Over the next two years, the immune system can heal diseases like cancer, multiple sclerosis, and HIV. Genetically modified immune cells, such as malignant T cells, can save countless lives designed to kill cancer.
